Hunan Dongtai Mountain National Forest Park is located in the economic development zone in the south of Xiangxiang City, Hunan Province, across the river from the urban area. It has jurisdiction over three scenic spots, Dongtai mountain, Tazi mountain and Shizishan mountain, with a total area of 336 hectares. The forest park is located in subtropical humid monsoon climate, with an average temperature of 17.3 ℃ and a monthly average temperature of 29.4 ℃. The vegetation type is subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest, and the vegetation coverage rate is 93.54%. In the past, people called it "phoenix from Dongtai", so it was named Fenghuang mountain. It was the first of the eight scenic spots in Xiangxiang.

In September 1992, it was approved as a national forest park by the State Forestry Administration.

In February 2020, to pay homage to the medical workers, the scenic spot will provide preferential and free tourism services to the medical workers of the whole country (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) from the date of resumption of operation to December 31, 2020.

Wenta mountain

Wentashan, also known as Tazishan, is located on the Bank of Lianshui River, south of Dongtai, about five kilometers away from Xiangxiang City, with an altitude of 320 meters. Because there is a pagoda on the mountain, it gets its name. Wenta was built in the Southern Song Dynasty to celebrate the success of Wang Rong, a native of Hunan Province.

Phoenix Temple

Fenghuang temple is one of the ancient temples in Hunan Province. During the Anti Japanese War, it was burned by Japanese invaders. It was originally divided into two temples, the upper and the lower. Shangfenghuang temple is located about 30 meters south of Bajiaoting. It was first built in 711 ad (the second year of Jingyun of Tang Dynasty). The site still exists. The original foot of the wall, the cornerstone and the remnant stele are all here. Xiafenghuang temple is a nunnery, and the forest farm is built on the site. On the side of the temple, there are Tianshu stone, Xiyao well, sunning medicine stone and other scenic spots. The origin of the name of yingzuishi: it looks like an eagle in the front, so it is called "yingzuishi". It is a natural scenic spot for visitors to climb up and overlook Xiangxiang City and Lianshui.

Sunrise Pavilion

Xuri Pavilion, also known as octagonal pavilion, is located at the main peak of Dongtai mountain. The pavilion is 8 meters wide, two-story octagonal structure, brick and stone structure. Visitors can climb the building to have a distant view of the mountain. It is called Pavilion, which is actually a pavilion. After restoration, it was renamed Xuri Pavilion.
