The ecology and vegetation of Wufeng mountain are well protected. Spruce, fir and Pinus yunnanensis are tall and straight, while magpie is graceful. Under the Bush, there are many grasses, and the beautiful birch is growing rapidly. No one has ever touched every plant on the mountain. Every year, on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, plateau collectors choose the best riders to take part in the competition, making it the busiest and most beautiful day in Wufeng mountain. The grass is full of flowers. Young men and girls in full dress walk through the sea of flowers. Colorful tents are all over the depressions. Old people with white hair dance around the bonfire. The whole dragon boat festival lasted three days, and Zhongdian grassland was completely involved in a huge ocean of joy. There are thousands of people in the county. We meet under the trees of Wufeng mountain and among the Du magpies to enjoy the wonderful performance of the riders in the natural stands around. There are a lot of people around the stadium, and the cheerful people seem to be thousands of Phoenix playing and dancing here.

Jockey Club

There is a legend about the origin of Wufengshan Jockey Club. It is said that a long time ago, the king of Tibet held a race meeting in Lhasa every year, but Jiantang (Zhongdian) riders failed several times, which was ridiculed by the king of Tibet, and announced that if Jiantang riders failed again, they would have to pay double the king's grain. At that time, there was a young man named Nazhu Dudan in Jiantang, who was determined to win for his hometown. So he set up a tent at the foot of Wufeng mountain and thought about training horses day and night. After several cold and heat, he finally developed his skills. Later, he won the first place in Lhasa Jockey Club. The king of Tibet asked the Lord what he wanted from Dudan. He said that as long as the king of Tibet did not need to pay the heavy King's grain for Jiantang. The king of Tibet agreed to their request. Jiantang built a pavilion on Wufeng mountain to commemorate the contribution of the Lord Dudan. It made a statue of the Lord Dudan galloping on horseback and agreed to hold a horse race at the foot of Wufeng mountain on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.

Today's Duanwu Festival is no longer a single horse race, but a cultural and Art Festival on the Shangri La grassland. During the horse race Festival, various cultural and economic activities are held at the same time, such as literature and art performance, folk song competition, national costume exhibition, material exchange meeting, etc. The May Jockey Club is playing an irreplaceable role in Diqing's opening up.
