GUSHAN martyrs cemetery

Jingjiang martyrs cemetery is located at the West foot of Gushan Town, Jingjiang City, covering a total area of 107 mu, including 22 mu in praise area of Xishan, 24 mu in nursery stock base of Dongshan and 61 mu in mountainous area.

Scale of cemetery

Xishan commendatory district is composed of five parts: the square in front of the garden, the hall in front of the garden, the zhanyan Road, the monument and the memorial hall. Yuanqian square is 300 square meters, which is very open. It is specially used for parking and gathering of the people who depend on the crane and tourists. There are three dark red gates in the front hall, which lead to the garden. The title of "Jingjiang martyrs cemetery" above the hall is inscribed by Jiang Weiqing, former Secretary of Jiangsu provincial Party committee. The hall covers an area of 114 square meters. Through the front hall, there is a Avenue full of trees. The main road is a concrete plate structure, 8 meters wide and 150 meters long. At a glance, you can see the monument of revolutionary martyrs made of granite. The base of the monument is 6 meters long and 6 meters wide, and the height of the monument is 6.6 meters. The inscription "the revolutionary martyrs will live forever" is engraved in gold, which is a photocopy of Premier Zhou Enlai's handwriting. Walking 20 meters around the monument is the solemn, elegant and magnificent Memorial Hall for revolutionary martyrs. The memorial hall is a civil structure with cornices, carved beams and painted buildings, green walls and ink tiles. It is a palace like building built on a mountain in the Ming Dynasty. The Museum covers an area of 540 square meters. Stepping on the granite steps, you can see the four powerful bronzing plaques inscribed by former defense minister Zhang Aiping. In front of the museum, there is a platform surrounded by granite columns for visitors to have a rest. Hall 13, divided into a large room four small rooms, a "concave" shape. There are 34 inscriptions of leaders of the Central Committee and all levels, such as Fang Yi, ye Fei, Zeng Tao, etc. In the small room, there are pictures of the martyrs and their deeds. In the 24 Cultural Relic cabinets, historical materials, relics and weapons used by the martyrs are displayed.

Number of heroes in the cemetery

The land of Jingjiang is the land of heroes, and the people of Jingjiang are the people of heroes. According to the records of the British list of martyrs in Jiangsu Province in 1982, there are 1456 revolutionary martyrs in Jingjiang City. After the general survey in 1983, there are 1480, and then there are 41 additional martyrs, a total of 1521. Among them: 1 during the agrarian revolution, 336 during the war of resistance against Japan, 998 during the war of liberation, 106 during the period of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, and 81 during the period of socialist revolution and construction. There are 76 portraits of martyrs on display in the museum.

Jingjiang martyrs cemetery has become an important scenic spot in Jingjiang. It has the characteristics of intuition, credibility, authenticity and vividness. It is a good position for patriotism education of the whole city people, especially teenagers, and plays a very important role in promoting the construction of two socialist civilizations.
