Luohanxi

Luohan River, originated from Yangli tubotou village, Baiyang Township, Xiapu County, Fujian Province, flows from northwest to Southeast. The stream flows through Hengjiang River, Xixi River and Yangsha river. It gathers the tributaries of Tongyou River in Xiacun village, passes through Baibu River, and then flows out of Mocheng River and daaotou into Hougang sea. Its main tributary, tongyouxi, originates from Baijian village, shuimen Township, with a drainage area of 42 square kilometers and a river length of 17 kilometers. Luohanxi is one of the three major rivers in Xiapu County, which contains rich water resources. It is the most important water source river in Xiapu County, integrating water storage and power generation, agricultural irrigation and urban drinking water. Luohan river is also a river with unique landscape. Quaternary glacial relics, such as glacial mortar, huge stone beach, gorge, cliff waterfall, and mountain scenery on both sides, paint beautiful landscape paintings, which has important tourism value.

Glacial mortar group

Glacial mortar is a kind of stone mortar used to pound rice in ancient China, which is formed by glacial melt water carrying ice debris and rock debris in the late Quaternary glacial period. It is called "glacial mortar" because it strongly impacts and grinds the underlying bedrock from top to bottom in the way of dripping water through the rock along the glacier fissure. It is one of the remains of ancient glaciers. Following the discovery of a large-scale group of glaciers in Baiyun Mountain in Fu'an, the wonders of glaciers were also found in Shouning and yangmeizhou, and then more than 100 early Quaternary glaciers were found in luohanxi Valley, hilltop and cliff in Xiapu County, with the characteristics of group distribution. With the discovery of glacial molars in eastern Fujian, this geological phenomenon is not unique to Fuan, which has heated up the debate about whether there was Quaternary glacial activity in Fujian. The distribution of glacial molars in Luohan River can be divided into three sections. The first section is located about 300-500 meters upstream of the fourth cascade hydropower station, with 20-30 glacial molars and other glacial relics. The characteristics of glacial molars here are large depth, most of which are more than one meter deep (excluding the deep accumulation of sand and stone below). The second section is located near Baibu River, with 10-20 glacial molars and other glacial relics. The third section is located about 100-300 meters upstream of Longtan Temple There are dozens of glacial remains, such as glacial molars, at the depth of 1.5 meters. The characteristics of glacial molars here are large, and the diameter of the largest one is about 6 meters.

Baibu River and its Luobu Bridge

Luohan river flows through a 200 meter long river section near Xiacun. It is named "Baibu River" because of the 101 teeth of the ancient Luobu bridge in Ming Dynasty.

It was first built in Ming Dynasty, with east-west trend and granite texture. Due to the fact that there are 101 levels in Nanbu (Volume 5 of Xiapu County annals, water conservancy annals). According to the bridge, "the first step of the five carts is a hundred and one teeth", so the stream is named Baibu stream. The bridge is 63 meters long, with a single step spacing of 60 cm, a height of 52 cm, a width of 60 cm, a thickness of 23-25 cm and a depth of 120 cm. There is a granite rocky land with shoal protection on both sides of naobu. The bridge was the only way for the villagers on both sides of Baibu River in ancient times. Later, because the stone arch bridge of naobutou was built, the bridge was abandoned. There are still 60 steps in good condition. Baibu xinaobu is of great significance to the study of traffic and bridge construction in Xiapu in Ming Dynasty. In 2010, Baibu xinaobu was announced as a county-level cultural relics protection unit.

Jushitan, luohanxi

Among the many rivers in Xiapu, luohanxi has the largest number of boulders and the most distinctive features. More than ten kilometers up from shuimokeng village, many river sections are full of boulders. These boulders are either river bed boulders or volcanic rocks disintegrated and fell into the river. The river erodes all year round and the shape is strange.
