Taiji gorge is located in shigu Town, Danjiangkou City, on the Bank of Danjiangkou reservoir, the source of the middle route of South to north water diversion. It is a provincial Geopark in Hubei Province, with an area of 60 square kilometers and a core area of 38 square kilometers. It is composed of more than 10 caves. It is said that it is the place where emperor Xuantian Zhenwu lived in seclusion in Wudang Mountain. The scenic spot is beautiful, the Danxia landform is magical and magnificent, and the stone forest landscape is superb. It is an ideal place for tourism, leisure, health preservation, scientific research and exploration.

In November 2010, Taiji gorge was awarded national AAAA scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration. Taiji gorge is an important part of Danjiangkou National Forest Park, a national forest park.

The scenic spot not only has beautiful and wonderful natural scenery, but also has the magic story and natural mystery of Liu Xiu's first victory over Wang Mang and the gradual establishment of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
