The former site of Guocun combat headquarters is located in Guocun Town, Jiangdu District, Yangzhou city.

On May 14, 1940, the new fourth army advanced into the column and repulsed the Japanese puppet troops in Jiangdu county at wujiaqiao. Because of the great disparity between the enemy and ourselves, the advancing column retreated to Guocun village in the northwest of Taizhou on May 17, and mobilized the masses in Guocun village and its surrounding areas to carry out the Anti Japanese struggle. At that time, Guocun was the defense area of Li Mingyang and Li Changjiang, the chief and Deputy commanders of the Kuomintang's general guerrilla headquarters in the Shandong Jiangsu Anhui border region. On June 28, under the conspiracy of Han Deloitte, the Kuomintang diehards and chairman of Jiangsu Province, Li Changjiang gathered 13 regiments to invade Guocun. With the support of the local Party organizations and the masses, the officers and men of the advancing column fought fiercely for seven days and nights, defeated the stubborn army, captured more than 2000 enemies, and took advantage of the victory to pursue the attack, directly under Taizhou city. In order to smash the plot between the enemy and the puppets, Comrade Chen Yi crossed the Yangtze River to the north, did a lot of United Front work, returned the prisoners and guns, effectively won over Li Mingyang and Li Changjiang, and relieved the worries of the New Fourth Army when it concentrated its forces to enter Huangqiao eastward. The combat headquarters of Guocun is located in the center of Guocun town. It is the former site of the confidential office, political department and the headquarters of the first regiment of the column of the existing headquarters. The confidential room of the headquarters is located in the village group of Fuye village, with two East Wing rooms where radio stations were set up. The former site of the political department is located in the villagers' group of Yangxiang village, with two rooms in front and back, facing south, three rooms in front and one compartment in front, with a construction area of 70 square meters, and two rooms in the back, with a construction area of 50 square meters. The command post of the first regiment of the advancing column is located in the villagers' group of Xinqiao village, northwest of the town, with three private houses, facing south from north, with a construction area of 78 square meters. The former sites are all traditional dwellings, which are used by the original householder.
