Mulan Bay is located in Puqian Town, the north end of Wenchang City, Hainan Province. It faces the mainland across the sea. It is composed of Mulan head, Mulan Bay and a wide hinterland of 30 square kilometers. It is connected with Qixingling, 49 kilometers by sea and 90 kilometers by land.

The annual average sunshine of Mulan Bay is more than 2000 hours, the annual average temperature is 23 ℃, and the forest coverage rate is 80%. The deep water of the bay is flat, and the bottom foundation of the shore is stone. It can stop ten thousand ton ships, and is three nautical miles away from the international route. When the conditions are ripe, it can be turned into a deep-water port. The hinterland of Mulan Bay is open and gentle, maintaining a good ecological environment. The natural scenery is picturesque and the green lawn is like a natural golf course. 3 km away from Mulan Bay is Mulan head, which is composed of 7 independent crescent shaped sand beaches, strange rock area and about 6 square kilometers of sharp triangle land. At the Hainan corner of Mulan Bay, there is a navigation beacon lighthouse with an altitude of 97.2 meters, which is the first in Asia. The lighthouse is 74.2 meters high and can be seen by ships within 24 nautical miles of the coast.

On the west side of the lower part of the mountain is the huge stone beach. On the silver white beach, there are many strange shaped huge stones, smooth and round. Overlooking from a high place, it is magnificent. On the east side of the lower part of the mountain, there is a stretch of sandy beach. The white sand is loose and the sea water is clear. It is a natural bathing beach. The Bay will be developed into a tourist resort with comprehensive recreation and sports as its main feature, integrating multiple functions of tourism and vacation.

Deep water harbor

Mulan Bay is one of the three most valuable deep-water harbors in Hainan, with a coastline of 25 km. It is necessary to build a number of 30000-50000 DWT berths. A large number of high-quality quartz sand are distributed around the area, which has the potential to build a large-scale glass production base. Relying on the advantages of resources, port conditions, highway construction and other supporting infrastructure, Mulan port development zone is suitable for the construction of glass products based building materials industrial processing zone. According to the planning of Hainan Province, Mulan port is a port area on the west coast. Mulan port will focus on three functions: first, it will serve as a port for export goods in the province; second, it will provide maintenance services for international ships; third, it will serve as a sea transit transport service.

Mulan port is located in a cone-shaped Peninsula protruding from Qiongzhou Strait, surrounded by the sea on three sides, which naturally forms a relatively independent semi closed area. In the southeast of Mulan port, there is a fine sandy beach belt.
