Wang Kunlun, a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, joined the Kuomintang in 1922, served as a political instructor of Chaozhou Branch of Huangpu Military Academy in 1926, and participated in the northern expedition. He once served as a legislator of the national government and an alternate executive member of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang. He did a lot of work to win over the upper class of the Kuomintang. In 1949, Wang Kunlun joined the revolution and served as the chairman of the fifth and Sixth Central Committee of the revolution.
At today's opening ceremony for the renovation of Wang Kunlun's former residence and the completion of the statue, Zhou Yinyin, Wang Kunlun's niece, spoke as a representative of her family members, expressing her nostalgia for her elders and thanking the local government of Wuxi for its efforts in the renovation of her former residence.
