The memorial hall of the martyrs on April 8, 1946 was built to commemorate the historical event of Wang Ruofei, Qin bangxian and other martyrs who attended the negotiations between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party on April 8, 1946. It was built in 1960, with a building area of 378.7 square meters and an area of 1730 square meters. The whole building sits north and south, with five halls, displaying relics of the martyrs and fragments of the plane.

In January 2017, the memorial hall of the martyrs on April 8 was listed in the list of national Red Tourism classic scenic spots.

The memorial hall is located in Zhuangshang village, Donghui Township, Xingxian County, Shanxi Province, in the south of Heicha mountain, 45 kilometers away from the county seat.

Protection status

On May 24, 1965, Shanxi Province announced that the memorial hall of the martyrs on April 8 was one of the first batch of provincial cultural relics protection units and one of the provincial patriotic education demonstration bases.

In January 2005, the memorial hall of the martyrs was listed as a national Red Tourism classic scenic spot construction project. In 2006, the "4 · 8" martyrs memorial red tourism scenic spot project was listed as a provincial and municipal "11 five year" key development project, which was approved on May 20, 2007. The total investment of the project is 19.7 million yuan, including 11.82 million yuan from the state and 7.88 million yuan from the provincial, municipal and county level.

What happened

On April 8, 1946, in order to report to the CPC Central Committee for instructions, Wang Ruofei and Qin bangxian (also known as Bogu), representatives of the CPC attending the Chongqing Kuomintang Communist negotiation and Political Consultative Conference, together with Ye Ting, commander of the New Fourth Army, Deng FA, Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Staff Committee, and Huang Qisheng, progressive educator, flew back to Yan'an in bad weather, accompanied by Li Shaohua, Peng Yongzuo, and Wei Wanji, officers of the Eighth Route Army Zhao Dengjun, Gao Qiong, Li Xiuwen, Ye Ting's wife, their son a Jiu, their daughter Yang Mei, and four American pilots. On the afternoon of April 8, 1946, the plane was killed in a heavy fog accident at Heicha mountain in Xing County, Shanxi Province.
