Yu chongen

Yu chongen (1926 -) is a Christian from Xinchang, Zhejiang Province. The eldest son of Yu Chenghua, an elder of Shanghai local church.

Life of the characters

He was baptized in Shanghai on August 24, 1942.

He studied in Shanghai Nanyang Model middle school and Shanghai Zhijiang University (at that time, Zhijiang University, which was originally in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, had not moved back to Hangzhou from Shanghai) and majored in civil engineering

He studied in Medical College of Nanjing Central University from 1947 to 1950

From 1950 to 1952, he transferred to the Department of chemistry of Soochow University and served in Suzhou local church.

There are 17 graduates in the class, 16 of whom are assigned to work in the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. Only Yu chongen is assigned to be a senior physics teacher in Suzhou No.1 middle school because he is a "small group leader"

In February 1956, Yu chongen was criticized for refusing to take part in the three selfies fight. He was a "young backbone member of the counter revolutionary group in the guise of religion". He attended classes as usual during the day and went to the public security bureau every night to explain his problems until late at night.

In 1957, he was transferred from Suzhou to Shanghai where his wife (stomatologist of Huashan Hospital) lived.

On May 3, 1958, he was detained as a "counter revolutionary" and then sent to Jiangle County in the northern mountainous area of Fujian Province for labor reform (cutting and transporting bamboo).

In 1962, he was transferred to Juntianhu reform through labor farm in Xuancheng, Anhui Province for 21 years.

He was released in 1979 and recruited as an English teacher by East China Normal University.

He was acquitted in 1984.

He went to the United States in 1986.
