Wuliangshan Grottoes is located in Tianzhuang village, Chuankou Township, 25 kilometers northwest of Pengyang County. It is backed by Wuliangshan, facing Shixia River, mountain and water. It has beautiful scenery. It is also a famous Grottoes in Guyuan area and a manifestation of Northwest culture

Construction features

Wuliangshan Grottoes is located in the Beiyuan formation of Tianzhuang village, Chuankou Township, 25 kilometers northwest of Pengyang County, Ningxia. It is backed by Wuliangshan, facing the Shixia River, with beautiful scenery. There are two caves, about 50 meters apart in the middle. They sit in the South and face the north. They are arranged East and west along the Shixia river.

history

The cave was built in 1032. The top of the cave is in the shape of a hole, with a depth of 0.8 meters. There are five stone Buddha statues, four of which are well protected, three of which are sitting side by side. The height of the statues is 2.1 meters. Two inscriptions are engraved on the cliff, with "ten years of Tiansheng" on the left and "zhangxingkou" on the right. The statues of xiku Buddha, carved in 1035, have 20 statues, namely one Buddha, two Bodhisattvas, sixteen Arhats and one Dharma protector. The statues are numbered from left to right It is No. 01-20, and the line is arranged on the cliff 0.9 meters high and 8.2 meters long from the ground. The highest statue is 0.8 meters, and the lowest is 0.38 meters. Seven of them are well preserved. About 2.6 meters above the ground, there is a inscription: "on April 12, the second year of Jinghu, Liu Xu and other people of Luohan were engaged in public cultivation.". In 1985, Wuliangshan grottoes were listed as county-level cultural relics protection units. In 1988, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit at the autonomous region level. In 1991, the people of Pengyang County planted 400 "memorial trees of cultural relics and historic sites" around the grottoes.
