Dade academy is located in the south of the Grand Cross, the commercial center of Guiyang City, which is the location of the grand south gate and Jiaxiu building.

Basic information

Dade academy is located in the downtown area of Guiyang. It was originally the nanjiyun temple built in the Yuan Dynasty. It was rebuilt and renovated many times in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and was converted into Zhonglie palace. In the yard, the ground is covered with purple flowers of Wutong, which makes people soak in the faint fragrance. Today's Academy is a leisure place integrating theater, bookstore and teahouse. Passing through the playground behind Zhonglie palace, it is the main part of the former site of Dade school. It is a typical Ming and Qing style quadrangle. The Dade school history exhibition in the auditorium shows visitors how this private primary school with only 20 pupils developed into a category with more than 1600 students A complete range of schools. Dade academy is a manifestation of Guiyang culture in the past and now. In 1894, there was a wave of learning foreign language and learning style all over the country. Guiyang, located in the southwest corner of China, also set up a school of Confucian classics. It selected talented students in the whole province to train the young generation with new learning. After the failure of Kang Liang political reform, though Jingshi school was dissolved, Huang Ganfu, who had studied in it, invited a group of like-minded friends to set up Dade publishing house in Zhonglie palace in Guiyang City in 1901. It was initially named Suanshu, Dade publishing house and Minli primary school. In 1912, it was renamed Dade school, and then a middle school was added. In 1925, women's middle school was established as a famous private school in Guizhou Province. Since its founding, Dade school has advocated equality between men and women. It took the lead in setting up a women's school in Guiyang. At the same time, it takes "studious, diligent and shameful" as its motto, pays attention to the combination of knowledge and practice in teaching methods, cultivates students' creativity and practicality, and advocates opening the mountain gate and taking a broad view of the world. It is one of the earliest schools in Guizhou to send students abroad for investigation and study, Dade was an early school to introduce scientific educational instruments, and also a pioneer of Guizhou new drama movement

It can be said that Dade Academy was a symbol of Guiyang civilization at that time. It cleared away the ignorance of people in the mountain city of Guiyang and opened another window for foreign exchange and learning.

Revolutionary sage Wang Ruofei entered Dade school in Guiyang in 1905. Dade school is famous for its famous Democrat and educator, Mr. Huang Qisheng (then the Liaison Representative of Guizhou government), who served as the principal and trained the famous Communist martyr Wang Ruofei. There is a memorial hall for Wang Ruofei and Huang Qisheng in the backyard of the Academy. Every year, there are commemorative activities on April 8. The statues of the two people in the academy have flowers from unknown people throughout the year. It has become one of the important bases of patriotism education in Guiyang.
