Zhanggutai pagoda

Zhanggutai pagoda is one of the important architectural relics of Lamaism in the Qing Dynasty in Naiman Banner, which is a key cultural relic in the autonomous region. The pagoda is built with green bricks. In front of the pagoda is the ruins of hushuo temple, which was demolished. The square garden is one square kilometer, and the layout is still indistinct.

According to textual research, the pagoda and hushuo temple were built in the middle of the Qing Dynasty. By 1949, they had been handed down for more than 200 years. The pagoda and the temple are a group of buildings. They are both the symbols of Buddhism. At that time, they were one of the four temples in Naiman. During the land reform, hushuo temple was demolished and lamas scattered, leaving only this tower.

The tower is located on the highland 120 meters east of Zhanggutai Sumu, Naiman Banner, Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It can be seen from a distance of 10 Li, which is quite spectacular.

Design features

Tower height more than 4 Zhang, the bottom width of more than 2 Zhang, a total of five steps. The upper two steps are round, with copper top hoops, thirteen days, Buddha eyes, etc. The Buddha's eyes are divided into four directions: East, West, South and North. There are four Buddha statues in it. The first one is Khapa, the ancestor of Lamaism. Four bells are hung in the four directions of the Buddha's eyes. The wind blows, the light wind blows, and the strong wind blows suddenly. The lower three stages are square and stacked, forming a strong tower foundation. On four sides of the second stage are engraved the list of donations and designers of the tower, which has not been completely refuted. Each step has a statue of relief, four corresponding, neat and beautiful.
