The dam site of Shenwo reservoir is located in the east of Nansha village, Gongchangling District, Liaoyang City, in the middle of Taizi River, between Benxi and Liaoyang. It is 39 kilometers away from Liaoyang City. The reservoir management bureau is located on the left bank of the river. The dam site is 2.7 km away from Nansha village. Shenwo reservoir is a reinforced concrete gravity dam.

The dam of the reservoir is built on the main stream of the Taizi River. Liaohe River is a large tributary on the left side of the Liaohe River Basin, which is called the eastern independent water system together with Hunhe River. Because the Hun River and Taizi River converge at the three forks of Haicheng and enter the Daliao River independently, the Taizi River system of Hun River is called HunTai river system for short. The annual precipitation around Shenwo reservoir is 900-1000mm, and the annual evaporation is about 600mm, which belongs to temperate humid monsoon climate.

Shenwo reservoir was built in 1973. The dam is 50.3 meters high and 532 meters long. It is divided into 31 dam sections. The width of the dam crest is 6m, the elevation of the dam section is 103.50m, the highest water level is 102m, and the corresponding storage capacity is 791 million cubic meters. The normal water level is 96.60 meters, and the flood discharge is regulated by 6 bottom outlets and 14 radial gates. The controlled drainage area is 6175 square kilometers. It is a water conservancy project for flood control, irrigation, power generation, industrial water use and tourism development.

It looks more magnificent in the sunlight. There are different scenic spots in each landscape, which constitute each scenic line with its own merits and legends. In the vast reservoir water, the surging Yanhe River, the towering north and south, and many historical sites are scattered all over the world. Yuan Hanlin mansion site, minister's tomb, general's tomb, Tiewa ancient temple, Wanghai Shuangquan Temple site and Liaojin mountain city all lead the history and have their own legendary allusions. Yingbinlou resort, state-owned huazi hunting ground, verdant trees, winding mountain road, mountain flower road, is a gathering area of rare animals, precious medicinal materials, exotic mountain vegetables, many wild fruits.
