Suifenhe river is a land port and an important border town between China and Russia. It can pass through directly along railways and highways. Suifen River, which means "awl" in Manchu, is named after the small Suifen river flowing through the foot of the city.

Urban construction began in the 1860s and has a history of 1340 years. At that time, the signing of the Treaty of Beijing made Suifenhe a border city. Nowadays, new buildings built on the mountain, ancient and elegant European buildings and neat Russian houses make up the overall appearance of the mountain city, which is fresh and quiet.

Located at the easternmost end of binsui railway, Suifen river is the most important international port city leading to the Far East of Russia. The external transportation is mainly by railway, with direct passenger trains to Shenyang and Harbin, and international passenger trains from Harbin to Vladivostok, leaving the country via Suifen river.
