CHONGFA Temple Pagoda is located in Xicheng District, Yongcheng City, Henan Province. It was built in the eighth year of song Yuanyou (March 25, 1093) and the fifth year of Shaosheng (1098). Because it was built in Chongfa temple, it is called CHONGFA Temple Pagoda. "Pagoda pan Yun" is one of the eight ancient scenes of Yongcheng. Lu Yonghui, a native of Yongcheng, once wrote a poem praising: "the traces of the ancient Donglin temple are still left, and the seven level floating Tu is located in the upper reaches. Chongfa temple tower, 34.6 meters high, is an octagonal nine level Pavilion building, which is composed of underground palace, tower base, tower body and Tasha.

The underground palace of Chongfa temple is square, with a caisson on the top. In the center of the underground palace, a lotus shaped coffin bed is built with bricks, and a rectangular stone box is set on it. There are Buddhist relics in the stone letter, and seven treasures, such as gold, silver, agate, crystal and jade, as well as copper coins and rice from the Tang and Song dynasties. It can be seen that this tower is specially built for Buddha's living relics.

The base of the pagoda is filled with wooden bones. It bears the pagoda on the top and protects the underground palace on the bottom. It is solid and stable. It forms a harmonious, solemn and elegant unity with the body and the temple of the pagoda. It can be called the best of the pavilion style pagodas.

The pagoda is of brick pavilion type, with octagonal and nine storeys. The green bricks are stacked with imitation wood structure. The eaves of each layer are protruded layer by layer and retracted layer by layer. There are brick imitation wood garden columns at the corner of the outer wall of each layer, and the imitation wood hollow fence is built on the outer eaves, which enhances the aesthetic feeling and shows the changeable outline.

The eaves of the pagoda are made of lotus petals and stones. The flat seat is supported by a bucket arch, which is very decorative. The overhanging eaves are equipped with stone carving heads. The mouth holds the wind duo. The breeze blows and the sound of Ding Dong makes people feel relaxed and happy, forgetting both favor and disgrace.

The first floor of the pagoda is 5 meters high and 7.7 meters in diameter. A GUI shaped gate is set up in the East, West, North and south. Three Buddhist niches are built in the southeast and West gates. The north gate is the gate of climbing the pagoda. From this gate, you can enter the center of the pagoda and surround it to reach the top of the pagoda. The interior adopts different structures such as through the core, corridor, square wall folding and solid masonry, which is very strong. Each floor of the tower has open windows with the same direction and shape as Guimen. There are 651 yellow and green glazed Buddha tiles on the top and both ends of the doors and windows, and 5 glazed tiles engraved with the inscription of the tower and the name of the benefactor to decorate the tower. These open windows are conducive to daylighting and viewing, and can ease the strong wind force and show ingenuity.

The top is the Tasha, which is made of metal. The top of the Tasha points to the clouds. The next seven phase wheels are supported by the central brake rod through the sleeve. The lower part of the tower brake is a metal brake base, which is connected with the ancient tower by the brake rod through the brake base.

CHONGFA Temple Pagoda is located in the martyrs' cemetery in the north-east corner of the old city of Yongcheng city. It is the former site of Chongfa temple, hence the name of the pagoda. Chongfa temple was built before Tang Dynasty. The pagoda of Chongfa temple was built on March 25, 1093. The tower was built in 1095 and completed in 1098.

After more than 900 years, the pagoda of Chongfa temple was eroded by wind and rain. Although it was repaired several times in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was still damaged. In the late Qing Dynasty, it was struck by lightning, leaving cracks. In 1938, it was shelled by the Japanese army again. The remaining 8 stories are 28.9 meters high. In order to restore the original appearance of CHONGFA Temple Pagoda, it was approved by Henan Provincial Department of culture in 1972 for the maintenance of the pagoda. In September 1983, Fang Xianda and gejilu, engineers of Anhui Provincial Cultural Relics working team, were employed to survey and draw the map. The project was approved by Zhang Yuhuan, associate researcher of Institute of history of natural sciences, Chinese Academy of social sciences. The project started in April 1984 and was accepted by Henan Provincial Bureau of cultural relics and Institute of ancient architecture in 1985. After the overhaul, the original appearance was restored, and the lightning rod was added, which re demonstrated the superb art of ancient high-rise buildings and the intelligence of the working people.

In 2002, the former site of Chongfa temple was officially opened as a place for Buddhist activities. On April 29, the foundation meeting of Shanmen hall was held, and the millennium old temple regained its glory.

On May 25, 2006, CHONGFA Temple Pagoda, as an ancient building of Song Dynasty, was approved by the State Council to be listed in the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

"Pagoda pan Yun" is one of the eight ancient scenes of Yongcheng.

Because its plastic art is between the north and south of China's tower building art, a form of integration of two kinds of tower building art.

Chongfa temple tower is an octagonal style 9-story brick tower, 34.6 meters high, 7.7 meters in diameter at the bottom, octagonal style, 3 meters in side length at the base. 1-4 layers are inlaid with dark green glazed tiles, and the composition is one Buddha and three Bodhisattvas. The body of the tower is of vertebral column shape, and there are Yanglian under each eaves. Looking up at the tower, it is like nine lotus flowers. There are four gates on each floor of the tower. Octagonal have stone tap, tap system bell, with the wind and sonorous, sweet.

There is an underground palace at the bottom of the tower. There is a coffin bed and a stone box inside. There is a blue stone passage at the north gate of the bottom of the tower to the top of the tower. The inner wall is inlaid with 651 pieces of dark green glazed Buddha bricks. The composition is one Buddha and two Bodhisattvas. It is the representative work of ancient turret architecture in China.
