Hot springs, waterfalls, forests, mountains, rivers and trees together form the Zhiben hot spring scenic spot in Taidong. It is a world-class hot spring resort with the richest reserves and the best quality in Taiwan. Zhiben hot spring is located in the southwest suburb of Taitung City, 17 kilometers away. It belongs to Beinan township of Taitung County. It is the first scenic spot in Taitung. Zhiben hot spring originates from Zhiben river bank. As far back as 1917, the local aborigines of Beinan nationality discovered that steam came out from the bottom of the river bed of zhibenxi when they were digging up land for cultivation. When they went to bathe, they found that it was quite effective for skin diseases and various kinds of trauma, so they called it "holy water". After that, the aborigines often went to dig springs to bathe in the open air, and even built huts on the banks of the streams. During the period of Japanese occupation, the construction of public baths and hotels began in Zhiben hot spring. Since 1981, there has been private investment in the construction of new tourist hotels, all of which have become famous scenic spots in Taiwan. Chaori hot spring is located in the southeast coast of green island between the rocky reefs. It is one of the rare salt water hot springs in the world. It belongs to sulfur spring, but it has no strong sulfur odor, and it will not feel sticky after washing. It is very special. Three circular pools with different temperatures have been built in the east coast scenic area for tourists to soak in hot springs. You can enjoy the fun of soaking in hot springs and enjoy the island scenery of blue sea and blue sky at the same time. If it's night, the sky is full of stars, hanging in the air, you can have a different taste. If you want to watch the rising sun, you can also come here at 3 or 4 a.m. to enjoy the sunrise. Among the four hot springs in the world, Zhiben hot spring ranks fourth. Among them, bamakozi spring in China ranked first, followed by Vichy hot spring in France.

Traffic information

Zhiben hot spring district is about 20 minutes' drive from Taitung railway station and airport. Take the bus 8116 and 8172 to Zhiben dingdong for about 25 minutes. The ticket price is 23 yuan to Taidong terminus. Then take the hot spring line 8129 to Zhiben hot spring in Zhiben forest recreation area. It takes 30 minutes and the ticket price is 71 yuan.

In Zhiben hot spring, resort hotels are the most popular business type. In mountainous areas, scattered residents operate B & B camping areas, and small hotel suites provide indoor hot spring baths. All of the above are the accommodation methods in hot spring areas
