brief introduction

The imperial palace is in court, and Yuci is in county government. When it comes to the ancient yamen, the classic scenes of "beating drums to cry grievances" and "three Hall joint trial" in drama and novels emerge, which makes me quite curious. On a fine day in the early winter, I finally had a chance to see the county-level government office of Yuci, which was known as "the first Department of the three Jin Dynasties" in feudal times. When I first entered the old city of Yuci and stepped into the East Street, I saw a group of ancient buildings on the north side of the street. Under the warm winter sun, they were clear-cut, solemn and majestic, just like a light colored panel painting.

As the saying goes, "Tianxia yamen opens to the South", Yuci County Yamen is naturally located in the north of the street, and the gate opens to the south. The first thing you can see is the archway standing on the street. The main archway in the middle is of four pillars and three rooms. Four large stone pillars decorated with cloud patterns are placed on the grass white jade Xumi seat more than one meter high. The stone, stone drum and stone lion in front of and behind the pillars are as natural as heaven. The plaque on the front door is very eye-catching, and the eyebrows on the left and right doors are inscribed with "Zhengfeng", "Dunren", "Chongli" and "Shangjian". On both sides of the square, there is a simple square with two pillars and a gate. On the top of the square, there is a stone lion looking south. As the prelude of the whole building group, the county government archway gives people a sense of solemnity. When you enter through the door, you can see the subtlety of intention and ingenuity.

Historical evolution

According to the records, Yuci county yamen, named as "the chief assistant of Jin Fan", was built in the Song Dynasty. Its architectural style is symmetrical with six in and six out. It has five halls and 26 courtyards, covering an area of more than 20000 square meters and more than 400 houses. Historical records show that the county government has four paths and three halls, but why Yuci county government has six paths and five halls? When the northern Han Dynasty was destroyed in the early Song Dynasty (979 AD), Zhao Guangyi, Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty, believed that Jinyang had "the right son" and "the spirit of the king", so he destroyed the ancient city of Jinyang (located in Jinyuan District of Taiyuan today) and moved Bingzhou government to Yuci, so Yuci county government was naturally destroyed It has been promoted to the state government, and has been followed up to now.

The county government, which has been repaired through the ages, is a collection of Chinese classical architectural art. Among them, archways, halls, halls, corridors, pavilions, buildings and pavilions, many architectural forms are brilliant, vivid and simple; Five halls, six rooms, county Cheng Yuan, Qian Shui yuan, prison yuan, as well as the administrative, cultural and sacrificial systems of the land temple, Hou Temple, yamen temple, prison temple, Mawang temple, and Sifeng tower, are of complete functions and high value. The whole county yamen building complex is a physical specimen of traditional royal and divine power, feudal ritual system, ancient architectural art, local characteristics, and changes in official system, which can be called Chinese feudal architecture It is the historical witness of the county-level government Yamen.
