Silk Road beacon

Beacon is an ancient alarm system. It coexists with the great wall outside to form a complete military defense system. The shape of the two beacons in sarchok beacon tunnel and Balikun South lakeside are basically the same. The base is square, and the tunnel body is prismatic, which shrinks upward. They are rammed earth buildings, with red willow branches sandwiched in the rammed earth, and are mostly framed by logs. It represents the glory of the ancient Silk Road in the past.

But there are also some independent ones that play the role of early warning and defense. The beacon tower in Xinjiang is the best example. The beacons and flints of Xinjiang are all over the north and south of Tianshan Mountain. They are in line with the middle and North routes of the Silk Road, and play an important role in safeguarding the smooth flow of the silk road. At present, there are 51 beacons of different ages in Hami area, which is the area with the most and the best preserved beacons in Xinjiang. Among them, Balikun county has the largest number of beacons, with 29 in total, while Hami City and Yiwu county have 19 and 3 respectively. The earliest beacon in Hami area was built in the Tang Dynasty, and there are still four remains in the territory. These are laksumu beacon in the second fort of Hami, xiamabulake beacon in Liushuquan, Santanghu beacon in Balikun, and kuoershona beacon in yiwuqian mountain. They are more than 1200 years old. The vast majority of the Fengsui preserved today are built in the Qing Dynasty. The highest density of former beacons is from Balikun county to salchok. There are 13 beacons every 2-3 kilometers. The city is like Cen Shen's poem: "the cold post is far away, the border beacons are facing each other", which is a grand sight of the silk road!

The shape of the two beacons in sarqiaoke beacon tunnel and Balikun South lakeside is basically the same. The base is square, and the tunnel body is a prismatic shape with upward contraction. Both of them are rammed earth buildings with red willow branches in the rammed earth, and most of them are framed with logs. Saerqiaokefeng tunnel is 8 meters long, 8 meters wide and 7 meters high. Four layers of wooden sticks with a diameter of about 8 cm are erected above and below the tunnel. Balikun Lake beacon tunnel is 400 meters away from the highway. The tunnel title is tall and complete, with a length and width of more than 10 meters and a height of more than 9 meters. The diameter of the logs drilled in the tunnel is 25 cm. There is also jixinxin courtyard site in the southeast of the beacon tunnel. Under the setting sun, the Balikun beacon tunnel in series appears to be very simple and neat, which reproduces the former glory of the ancient Silk Road.
