Baiyu River, also known as Yulong Kashi River, has been named after the production of Hetian white jade since ancient times. Baiyu river is the main producing area of Baiyu. In addition to Baiyu, there are 36 kinds of Hetian jade, such as sapphire, Qingbai jade, topaz and Jasper. Among them, the most valuable one is Lanzhi jade. Every year when the flood recedes, many treasure diggers will dig for jade in the river.

Baiyu river originates from the north slope of Kunlun Mountain, with a total length of 504km and an annual runoff of 2.26 billion cubic meters, benefiting 70000 people in the irrigation area.

Baiyu river flows through Hotan oasis from south to North and flows into Tarim River after kuoshtashi and Moyu River converge to form Hotan River.

According to linguistic research, "Yulong" is an ancient Uyghur language, meaning Bai. The Yulong Kashi River is the Baiyu River, which is famous for its white jade (lanzhiyu). In the dry season, many people go down the river to visit jade. It is said that the Yulongkashi river was a long marsh in ancient times. It merged with the Kalakashi River (Moyu River) in the west to form the Hotan River. Half of the original Hotan was developed on the West Bank of such a naturally formed ancient river bed. Milzan mahema Haidar, a central Asian historian in the Yerqiang Khanate period (equivalent to the Ming Dynasty), wrote in his history of Rashid: "Hotan is one of the most famous towns in the world, but now only jade is worth praising."

However, the local people do not call this white jade river Yulongkashi River, they call it "hebazi". Today, this "hebazi" has become a lively scenic spot in Hotan, attracting many tourists.
