Xianggong hall, a temple and the name of a village, is located in Chongshou Town, Cixi.

Introduction to scenic spots

Chongshou town is located in the coastal area. It has a tradition of reclamation since ancient times. One year, people dug out a Bodhisattva from the sea. The common people always had some awe for the Bodhisattva, not to mention the Bodhisattva dug out from the sea, which was given by the God of the sea. So they built a temple for offering, hoping that it could protect the common people. This is Xianggong hall. During the cultural revolution, Bodhisattvas were destroyed. The Bodhisattvas worshipped in Xianggong hall were later rebuilt. What makes this place famous is the battle of Xianggong hall, which is the first battle of the Anti Japanese guerrillas led by the New Fourth Army against the Japanese army in eastern Zhejiang. On June 18, 1941, more than 30 Japanese soldiers set out from Andong stronghold in Yuyao County, Zhejiang Province to harass Xianggong hall. On the 16th, the 4th Brigade of the 5th detachment of Songhu guerrillas, who had just crossed the sea from Pudong and landed in the north of Yuyao, rushed to xiangtian'an near Xianggong hall to set up an ambush. In this ambush, 8 Japanese soldiers were killed and wounded, which was also the first time that Japanese troops were hit after they invaded eastern Zhejiang.
