Hu Wenguang memorial archway

Hu Wenguang memorial archway is located in Xidi Village, Yi County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. Built in the sixth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1578 AD), that is, more than 400 years ago, the archway is 12 meters high and nearly 10 meters wide. It is a single imitation wood structure with three rooms, four columns and five floors.

History of memorial archway

On the East and west sides of the memorial archway, there are eight characters: "Prime Minister of Jingfan" and "governor of Jiaozhou". Zhao Puchu said that this is the most powerful memorial archway he has ever seen. In the history of Xidi, there were 13 archways, most of which were honoring filial piety and chastity. This is probably the only archway built directly by the emperor. This is the entrance of the village. Next to Tianma mountain, the pine and fir trees are luxuriant and lush. The pond at the foot of the mountain is full of waves and scales. The hundred acres of good farmland in the village are successively spread out at the foot of the mountain. It is exactly what Meng Haoran described in his ancient poems: the edge of the green tree village is close, and the green mountain and the country are inclined.
