Wangjiang Park

Wangjiang Park, located in the South Bank of Jinjiang River, is a famous tourist attraction in Chengdu. Its predecessor was the Chongli Pavilion, Zhuojin tower, HuanJian Pavilion, Wuyun fairy hall, Liubei pool and Quanxiang pavilion built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties in memory of Xue Tao, a poetess of the Tang Dynasty. It was turned into Wangjiang Park in the Republic of China.

Chonglige

The most magnificent building in Wangjiang Park is Chongli Pavilion, 39 meters high. Its name is derived from the sentence "both beautiful and worshipful, real name is Chengdu" in Shudu Fu written by Zuo Si, a writer of Jin Dynasty. Because it stands on the Bank of Jinjiang River, it is called "Wangjiang tower" by the people. There are four floors in total. The upper two floors are octagonal and the lower two floors are square. Each floor of the roof, bird for are decorated with exquisite animal clay and figure carving.

The poetry reciting tower was built on the basis of Xue Tao's poetry reciting tower before he died. The three stacked and open buildings are hidden in the shadow of willows and bamboos by the river. The waves, clouds and shadows are set against each other, which makes it very beautiful and poetic. The memorial buildings, such as Wuyun immortal hall, quanxiangxie, Pipa gate, Qingwan room, HuanJian Pavilion, are exquisitely arranged, with many inscriptions, plaques, couplets, calligraphy and paintings. One Pavilion, two floors and the adjacent wuyunxian Pavilion constitute a garden complex with Sichuan style.

Remains of Xue Tao

Xue Taojing, to the south of chonglige, is a copy of Xue Tao's paper written by the vassal of Shu in Ming Dynasty. "Xue Taojing" was written by Xiong yingshou, the magistrate of Chengdu in the sixth year of Kangxi reign of Qing Dynasty. It is said that Xue Tao used the water from an ancient well here to make a kind of red paper. Its color is gorgeous and exquisite. Wei Zhuang, a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty, once begged her. The statue of Xue Tao, built in 1984, is located in the depths of the bamboo groves in the garden. The statue, 3 meters high, is carved from white marble. It is surrounded by clear water and the ground is green. The tomb of Xue Tao was restored in October 1994. The tombstone is composed of tombstone, tomb body and tomb base platform. On the tombstone is inscribed "Tomb of Xue Hongdu, female school script of Tang Dynasty". The tomb is surrounded by a low wall of green bricks, equipped with lawn, peach blossom and green bamboo. Duzhuyuan was built in 1995 as a variety bamboo area of the park. In the garden, there are lots of green bamboos, stacked stones with scenery. On the white marble stele, there are excellent works of Xue Tao and historical celebrities chanting bamboo and painting bamboo, which constitute a picture of bamboo and stone.

Bamboo Park

Because Xue Tao loved bamboo all his life, later generations planted all kinds of good bamboo in the garden. Xue Tao praised bamboo for its "modesty and self-reliance" and "extraordinary vitality". Wangjiang Park gathers more than 150 kinds of bamboo at home and abroad, many of which are very valuable. These bamboos are of various shapes, each of which is interesting. Such as pink bamboo, the whole body is white, just like Tingting girl; human face bamboo, on the bamboo stem close to the root, overlapped and covered with strange knots, just like a person's face; the joints of Buddha belly bamboo are smooth and protruding, just like the stool belly of laughing arhat. There are also square bamboo with tough texture, chicken claw bamboo with tall trunk, graceful Phoenix Tail Bamboo, elegant Guanyin bamboo Each of them has its own splendor, but they live in harmony. They either embrace each other into a cluster, interweave into a corridor, or mingle into a shady path People regard this beautiful garden as "the park of bamboo". Chinese and foreign tourists and poets often come here to visit the ancient times.

Best season

It's suitable for all seasons. (Chengdu has a humid climate with more clouds and less sunshine. It is a city with early spring, hot summer, cool autumn and warm winter. The annual average temperature in Chengdu is 16 degrees centigrade. There is little ice and snow, but it is very cold. Therefore, the best travel time in Chengdu is from March to June and from September to November.)

Starting point: Chengdu East Railway Station,
