Jiannan auditorium

The largest auditorium of Xiamen University, which can accommodate 4000 people, was started in 1952 and completed in 1954. Mr. Tan Kah Kee personally participated in the design and supervision of the project, which was funded by the overseas Chinese in Nan'an, Fujian Province, whose son-in-law, Mr. Li Guangqian. The architecture of Jiannan auditorium is delicate and ingenious, with large lanterns and colorful curtains. It has become a unique landscape that combines ancient and modern, Chinese and western, and draws on the strengths of others. Adhering to the traditional layout of "one main building and four subordinate buildings" of Jiageng building, Jiannan building group is one of the landmark buildings in Xiamen, with five buildings arranged in arc shape facing the sea and surrounded by the beautiful shangxianchang.
