Yuantong Temple is an affiliated Temple of Guangyou temple, which is built on the artificial platform on the north side of the white tower. It covers an area of 3000 square meters, with a construction area of 1350 square meters. The main hall is a five bay intermittent Hill single eaves style antique building, with a height of 17 meters.

The plaque "Yuantong Chan yuan" on the front of the hall was inscribed by Qigong, a famous calligrapher in China. "Yuantong" is the nickname of Guanyin Bodhisattva, so this hall is dedicated to the worship of Guanyin Bodhisattva.

In the center of the hall, there is a sitting statue of Avalokitesvara with thousands of hands and eyes, which is 6.2 meters high. Sitting in front of the left and right are the two standing statues of shancai boy and dragon girl, which are two close attendants of Guanyin. On the 1.2-meter-high Xumi seats on the East and west sides of the hall, 32 characters of Guanyin are symmetrically arranged to educate all living beings.

Yuantong Temple was officially opened to visitors on June 9, 2002. On August 27, master Yongxing, vice president of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association, presented his two Buddhist bone relics to Guangyou temple for worship in Yuantong Temple. This adds new religious connotation and attraction to Yuantong Temple, making it a hot spot for Buddhist Pilgrims and one of the important tourist attractions in Liaoyang.
