Putuo Museum

Putuo museum was built in October 2001 and opened in October 2002. The collection, with Shenjiamen fishing port as the main body, shows Putuo regional culture and the style and features of the fishing capital from three aspects of fishing, port and scenery. The exhibition is divided into five parts: "seaside family", "historical relics of the fishing capital", "prosperous fishing port", "port connecting Kyushu" and "great changes". There are more than 480 pieces of objects, models, sculptures and photos. It vividly introduces fishermen's production, living customs and the formation, development and great changes of the fishing capital, especially after the reform and opening up. It integrates education, knowledge and interest, and has great ornamental value. Since its opening, the museum has attracted tens of thousands of Chinese and foreign visitors.

Every Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Monday) 8:30-11:00 am, 2:00-4:00 PM. Tickets are 5 yuan for adults and free for children. During the Spring Festival, may day, national day and new year's day, it is free of charge. The museum is located in the urban area with convenient transportation.

Development history

Putuo museum is located in a modern residence with the characteristics of fishermen. This building was built in 1943, with a history of nearly 60 years. It used to be a place for fishing trade. The building is divided into two floors, with a total construction area of 496.8 square meters. It is equipped with a lobby and a wing room. The symmetrical wooden ladders and carved railings on both sides are very exquisite. The wide courtyard and unique eaves fully show the square and grand temperament of ancient Chinese architecture. In order to protect the ancient building and the neighborhood, the district government decided to use the building as a Putuo Museum. In addition, 2.5 million yuan was invested in the protective restoration of the building, 20 households of the building were properly resettled, and cultural relics were extensively collected inside and outside the area. Through the exhibition of objects, models and pictures, the museum specially introduces the traditional fishermen's life and production customs, the history of the formation of the fishing City, the development of the fishing city and the friendly exchanges between the fishing port and foreign countries, so as to show the customs of the fishing city in an all-round way.
