Fanyin cave

Fanyin cave has always been an important landscape of Mount Putuo. Fanyin cave is opposite to Chaoyin cave in North and south. It and Chaoyin cave have their own characteristics, and they are called "two cave Chaoyin". From Fayu temple to feisha'ao and xianghui'an, it is qinggulei mountain in the east of Putuo. Qinggulei is inserted into the Putuo ocean. It must be the place where the waves beat the cliff. The sound of the tide shakes the cave. It sounds like beating a drum day and night, so it is also called "jinggulei". There is a natural cave at the southern end of qinggulei mountain. The cave is about 60 meters high and 50 meters deep. The cliff is precipitous. The cliffs on both sides form a gate. It is commonly known as fanyin cave. Among the numerous caves and ravines in Putuo mountain that have always been regarded as magical, the majestic momentum and steep and dangerous wall of fanyin cave are unmatched by other caves.

Buddha in the cave

Fanyindong mountain is clear in Guizhou Province, and cangya rises up. At the waist of the cave, which is a few feet from the top of the cliff, there are horizontal stones embedded in it, like a bridge, just like a precious jade contained in canglongkou. There is a stone platform between the two steep walls. There is a double-layer niche on the platform, which is called "guanfo Pavilion". You can see the sea in front of the platform, and you can see the cave in the back. It is said that it is the place where the great master Guanyin showed his holiness. Those who want to see fanyin cave should first detour down the stone steps from the top of the cliff, and then come to guanfo Pavilion.

The cave is deep and secluded. Under the action of the sunshine and sea tide, the rocks in the cave are various and unpredictable. It's said that when people observe Buddhism here, they all see different Buddhas. Even the same person will change with seeing, which is extremely strange.

Listen to the tide in the cave

This place is also the best place to watch the tide in fanyin cave. The Buddha's music leads to the sea, the tide and the people's cave. The sound of the waves on the cliff is like the galloping of horses, like the roaring of dragons and tigers. It can be heard day and night without exception. So far, Buddhist believers like to worship at the entrance of the cave and pray to see the appearance of Guanyin Bodhisattva. In the 38th year of Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1699), the emperor's imperial book "fanyindong" was hung here.

Buddha, the tide is rolling, the sound of the waves on the cliff is like ten thousand horses galloping, dragons singing and tigers roaring, day and night. Therefore, fanyin cave and Chaoyin cave are also called "two cave Chaoyin". They are the two most suitable places to listen to the tide and view the sea on Mount Putuo.

Thousand-hand Bodhisattva

Fanyindong Zhansheng Pavilion is dedicated to Qianshou Guanyin. Apart from two hands and two feet, Bodhisattvas have 20 hands on each side, with one eye in each hand. Forty hands and forty eyes are multiplied by "twenty five haves" to get a thousand hands and thousand eyes, which means that they have unlimited mana to help all living beings. Mount Putuo also worships the imperial stele Hall of Fayu temple, Dabei Hall of zizhulin and Yuantong Buddhist temple of Luojia mountain.
