Pengshan scenic spot is located in Linan Town, Li County, Hunan Province. It is the remaining vein of Wuling and close to Jiuli. The scenic spot boasts Pengshan mountain, Jiuli mountain, the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River and Shennongjia in the north, Zhangjiajie Forest Park and Fenghuang ancient city in the south. Pengshan, where the scenic spot is located, is ten miles to the west of Lizhou city. Because it looks like a crouching tiger, it was called Hushan before Tang Dynasty. Later, it was named Pengshan because of the people's memory of Li yuanze, the 12th son of Li Yuan, Emperor Gaozu of Tang Dynasty, who built an ancestral temple here. It is located in the Lishui River in the north, next to Kaizhou, overlooking the ancient city.
