Qulong temple is located in the south of the government of Woka Township, SANGRI County, Shannan Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region

Qulong temple stands close to the mountain, backed by the majestic waldgongjie snow mountain and facing the vast Woka grassland.

Historical evolution

Qulong temple is one of the early temples of the Kelu sect. In 1393, master zongkaba, the 36 year old founder of the Gelu sect, led a total of nine disciples to wakacharon for meditation to promote the teaching methods of the Gelu sect. At that time, Ben zaxilunzhu, the patriarch of Waka sect, was a benefactor to the nine disciples because he believed in Buddhism.

Zongben urged to build a monastery for the nine disciples who were practicing in the cave. So under the consent of master zongka, a sutra hall with a length of 14 cubits and a width of 11 cubits was built. Until 1969, the Sutra hall remained the same. This is the situation of the initial construction of Qulong temple. After "the master worshiped the thirty-five Buddhas and confessed, his hands, feet and fingers were all broken, and his hands, feet and head marks were ground on the stone. Then he made a mandala offering on a large square stone plate with stable roots. He ground his wrists, and both wrists were injured. He turned the stone mill smoothly.

These two stones were consecrated in the temple by his disciples, and the remains are still there, becoming the treasures of the temple. From then on, master zongkaba took Qulong temple as a foothold and taught the Gelug Sect in the area of Woka.

The origin of temple construction

Qulong temple, while the Gelug Sect's religious track is becoming more and more perfect, decided to build the Gelug Sect's presided over Temple -- Gandan temple. It is said that zongkaba prayed for the construction of Gandan temple in the north of Qulong temple, and later generations built a pagoda in the place where he prayed in memory.
