Fangshan mausoleum is located 25 kilometers north of Datong City, adjacent to the Great Wall. Surrounded by mountains, green mountains and green waters, beautiful scenery. On the top of the southern mountain, there is the tomb of Empress Dowager Feng of the Northern Wei Dynasty, YONGGU mausoleum.

Basic introduction

In the Northern Wei Dynasty, Lingquan palace and Lingquan pool were built here, which was a large royal palace. The whole tomb is located in the north and south, with a passage and a front chamber. The rain way, main room and other brick parts of the building are large-scale, beautiful modeling and decoration, showing the superb architectural art at that time.

Fangshan site

Located in xisiliangshan, Zhenchuan Township, it is the tomb of Feng family, wife of tuobajun, Emperor Wencheng of the Northern Wei Dynasty, commonly known as Qihuang tomb. It is one of the largest tombs excavated in the northern and Southern Dynasties in China. This site mainly refers to YONGGU mausoleum, wanniantang, enyuanfutu, YONGGU stone house, Zhaitang, Shique, Lingquan hall, Lingquan pool, grotto temple, Yulu and the YONGGU County site which was set up nearby to protect the mausoleum. YONGGU mausoleum was built on the basalt at the top of xisiliang mountain. The sealed earth is 22.87 meters high. It is round with a square bottom. It is 117 meters long from north to South and 124 meters wide from east to west. Facing south, the tomb was built in the center of fengdui, with a tomb passage, corridor, front chamber, main chamber and so on. In the tomb, there are relief sculptures of holding lotus child, peacock and tiger head gate pier. The carving techniques are skillful, the craft is fine, and the lines are smooth. It is one of the masterpieces of the Northern Wei Dynasty. In particular, the mausoleum was built on the top of the mountain, which is unique in the country. Fangshan site is famous for its high mountain scenery. It was once listed as one of the eight scenic spots in ancient cloud with the name of "misty rain of Wei mausoleum". ?
