Chen Congzhou Art Museum

Chen Congzhou Art Museum, also known as Ziyuan, was built in 1998 in Haiyan County, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. It is located in the north of Xijian, adjacent to Xijian thatched cottage, covering an area of more than 3 mu. The main building is an exhibition hall with national style. It was built in memory of Chen Congzhou, a famous garden expert in China. There is a half Pavilion in the courtyard. It is a reproduction of Mingxuan, a garden designed by Professor Chen Congzhou in the United States.

It covers an area of 1000 square meters, with a construction area of 480 square meters and a total investment of more than 2 million yuan. It was opened to the outside world after expansion on May 28, 2001. The Museum of art is a building with national style. In front of the museum stands a Taihu stone with the name of "Chen Congzhou Museum of art". On the west side of the courtyard is Mr. Chen Congzhou's graveyard, on which there is a statue of Mr. Chen Congzhou. On May 7, 2001, Mr. Chen Congzhou's ashes were transported here from Shanghai

It was placed in the catalpa garden, realizing the long cherished wish of "returning to the north and South lakes". The exhibition hall on the three floors of the art museum records Mr. Chen Congzhou's artistic thoughts, artistic achievements, life history and relevant literature on his contribution to the protection and development of the north and South lakes, including his calligraphy and painting works, his collection of tiles and other cultural relics as well as his daily necessities. There are also hundreds of photos of Mr. Chen's work and life on display, including photos of Chen Congzhou with poet Xu Zhimo, painter Zhang Daqian, Kunqu artist Yu Zhenfei, photos of his association with Ye Shengtao, Mao Yisheng, Qian Xuesen, I.M. Pei, and a large number of precious letters. There is a pavilion in Ziyuan, which was designed by Professor Chen Congzhou in 1984 for the reappearance of Mingxuan in New York.
