According to ancient records, there were more than 400 large-scale wars in Xuzhou from the spring and Autumn period (573 BC) to the founding of the people's Republic of China in 1949. "In the ancient battlefield in front of Jiuli mountain, the shepherd boy picked up old swords and guns" is the best portrayal of this.

In 573 B.C., Jin and Chu fought for hegemony, and a great war broke out around Pengcheng city of Song state. It involved 13 countries and lasted for 8 months. Pengcheng was the command center and rear base of the rebel army, which made an indelible contribution to the final destruction of the violent Qin Dynasty.
