Xiaokang River

Xiaokang river is one of the main rivers in Gaomi City, which flows through the central section of the city. With the accelerating process of industrialization and urbanization of the city, the water pollution in the basin is becoming increasingly serious.

In October 2005, Gaomi municipal Party committee and government made a decisive decision to invest 160 million yuan to implement the comprehensive reconstruction project of Xiaokang river. Through the joint efforts of the whole city, by the end of December last year, a total of 95000 square meters of demolition work was basically completed, and the river bottom dredging work was also fully completed. On the sixth day of the first month of this year, the project headquarters moved into the construction site and dispatched 18 construction teams of more than 1000 people. After more than 100 days of hard work, the main works of the river course, such as the masonry of retaining walls, the laying of river bottom seepage prevention and sewage pipes, and the construction of five bridges, were completed by the end of May. Six scenic spots, such as Suzhou street and fishing area, more than 20 scenic spots, a parking lot, and two rubber dams were built. The project then entered the supporting stage and rapidly started the construction of landscape engineering. By the end of September, a high-grade ecological landscape belt of Xiaokang River integrating sightseeing, leisure, entertainment and shopping will be presented to the world.

Walking along the Xiaokang River, you can see flowing water, green grass, silver fountains rising and falling, pavilions and pavilions scattered, arched bridges like a rainbow across the two banks, wooden plank roads like dragons circling. At the beginning of the morning, people in twos and threes come to exercise on fitness equipment. As night falls, groups of tourists view and relax under the reflection of landscape lights, making people feel like they are in the water town of the south of the Yangtze River. Since then, residents around Xiaokang River have bid farewell to the stinky ditch, and Gaomi has another tourist attraction. The people of the city are jubilant, saying that the "Longxu ditch" in the past has become the popular river of today.
