Xiamen music school is a public school founded by Xiamen municipal government in 1990 for secondary music major and nine-year compulsory education with music characteristics.

The school is located on Gulangyu Island, the sea garden with the reputation of Qindao. It recruits students with music expertise and a certain music foundation at home and abroad, and provides a large number of music and art talents with high cultural quality for higher education institutions.

In April 2009, the music school affiliated to Xiamen University was named the second name of the school. In 2013, the school scale was further expanded, and a new campus was built in Wuyuanwan Wutong, Huli District, Xiamen Island, forming Gulangyu campus and Wutong campus, implementing the "one school, two districts" mode

Since running the school, the school has adhered to the quality guidance and characteristics of the school, constantly explored diversified school running mode, and created a road of synchronous and high-quality development of music major and cultural education. The school has won the honorary titles of national advanced unit of school art education, National Women's civilized post, Fujian civilized school, Fujian advanced school of quality education, and teachers and students have won thousands of awards in various international and domestic music competitions. School running conditions

The school has a strong faculty, and the cultural courses are taught in small classes. Primary schools and junior middle schools teach according to compulsory education courses, and secondary technical schools teach according to ordinary senior high school courses. The teaching results of cultural courses are excellent, and the results of the primary school graduation examination and the secondary school entrance examination are in the forefront of the city (District). Every year, a group of music majors with excellent character and learning are admitted by key high schools, and all the previous secondary school graduates are admitted to music colleges and universities. Fu Renchang, the permanent conductor of Berlin Symphony Orchestra and director of Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, was employed as the artistic director of the orchestra, and Zhou Yubo, a professor, young pianist and doctor of Jimei University, was employed to teach.

The school has established cooperative relations with Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Conservatory of music affiliated high school and China Conservatory of music.
