Drum Tower (Xi'an)

Bell tower and drum tower are called "sister tower" and "Wenwu tower". They were both built in Ming Dynasty and have a history of more than 620 years. Facing the bell tower to the East, the drum tower was built in the 13th year of Hongwu reign of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang of the Ming Dynasty, four years earlier than the bell tower. It was rebuilt twice in the 38th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty and the 5th year of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. There was a huge drum on the upper floor, which was called "Drum Tower" because it beat the drum to tell the time every day. After years of vicissitudes, today's giant drum no longer exists, but the drum tower towering. There is a performance of chime bells on the clock tower every day, and the paintings and calligraphy presented by Qi Baishi are also very precious. The night scene is magnificent, like a dream back to the Tang Dynasty.
