Crab Hill Park is located on crab hill beside Huangpu Avenue on the west side of Huangpu old port. Because the geological environment of the park is a typical Danxia landform, and the rocks are similar to red crabs, it is named crab hill. Founded in 1932, the park is one of the earliest parks in Huangpu District. The park has rich historical and cultural heritage. Inside the garden are the ruins of the Xieshan fort and the corridor built in 1885. To commemorate the 1924 "Yongfeng shipwreck" in Guangzhou, crab hill was opened up as a park with an octagonal pavilion and a Square Pavilion, both of which are continental style pavilions. The main tourist attractions of the park include: peak Monument Memorial area, Baibu ladder, stone scenic area, Banshan Pavilion, South Gate Square scenic area, Dawang Temple platform scenic area, etc. The park is full of trees, and the colors of rhododendrons and dragon boat flowers are charming.

Historical evolution

According to the records of Panyu County, in 1885, Zhang Zhidong, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, built three fortresses at Yuzhu, Shishan and Xieshan on the North Bank of the Pearl River, forming a full battle with Changzhou and Shalu fortresses on the south bank across the river, forming Changzhou fortress and guarding the second gateway of the Pearl River to Guangzhou. There is an underground passage in the battery of crab hill, which is equipped with a 20 cm cannon (the cannon was moved from the Municipal Office of cultural administration to the fifth floor of Yuexiu Hill for display in 1953). In June 1922, Chen Jiongming mutinied. In July, Sun Yat Sen's Yongfeng warship arrived on the Huangpu River and was stationed in the headquarters office of the torpedo Bureau of Changzhou Island. It was shot by the rebels from the Xieshan fort and was in a dangerous situation. Sun Yat Sen sailed through the Shenjing River and turned into Nanhe road to enter the white goose pond. Many years later, Chen CE and others who took part in the battle built small pavilions and rafters on the crab mountain. Hu Hanmin wrote that the "monument of sun Gong's death" was erected on the top of the mountain. Lin Zhimian wrote an article and engraved it in the Yin of the monument (the monument was destroyed during the "Cultural Revolution") and named it "Zhongshan Park" as a memorial.

As the park was built, Hu zhantang was asked to set up a stele on it to remind Zhimian that he had worked with Sisi, and to record the general situation of that day for future generations.

Geology and geomorphology

The geology of Xieshan belongs to red rock series conglomerate, which has been impacted by waves for a long time, forming a crawling crab shape.
