Founded in 1964, the library of Central South University of forestry science and technology is composed of Dongyuan Library (Main Library), Xiyuan Library (former library of Hunan Economic cadre management college) and more than 20 department reference rooms. Venue size

The east campus library was completed on October 30, 2004, with 8 floors high. The west campus library was built in 1998, with an area of 6700 square meters, and was expanded to 17000 square meters in 2015.

The library of Zhuzhou campus was completed at the end of 1986 and opened to readers in March 1987, with a building area of 6179 square meters. With the continuous expansion of the scale of the school and the formation of the pattern of Taking Changsha campus as the main body of running a school, the original library buildings can no longer meet the needs of the development of the school. The construction of the library of Changsha campus was officially started in November 2003. On October 30, 2004, the newly completed Library in Changsha campus is 8 stories high, with a building area of 26200 square meters. It has unique shape, advanced facilities and complete functions. This high intelligent modern library stands in the center of the campus, and is the landmark building of Central South University of forestry science and technology.

Collection resources

There are 2.616 million volumes of literature resources in the library. Among them, there are 1833000 printed books, 783000 e-books, nearly 60 Chinese and foreign databases (including sub databases), and 5100 non printed materials. The library LAN is one of the main nodes of the school network, with advanced network equipment and complete functions, providing all kinds of electronic literature services and network information services.

Organization setup

The library now has comprehensive department, resource construction department, circulation department, borrowing department, reading department, information and development department, technology department and Xiyuan department, serving more than 2300 staff readers and about 30000 student readers.

The library of Central South University of forestry science and technology has 105 employees, including 93 formal workers, 12 mobile workers, contract workers and temporary workers, 3 senior staff, 18 deputy senior staff, 34 intermediate staff, and 52.4% of the total number of people with middle and senior professional titles. The academic qualifications of the staff cover all levels, such as Ph.D., master's degree, undergraduate degree and junior college degree. The professional structure involves library and information, forestry, computer, English, Chinese, etc.
