History Introduction

Located in the scenic village of Tianzhushan Town, Qianshan County, Anhui Province, there are more than 400 stone carvings in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.) and the Republic of China (1912-1949 A.D.), most of which are in the Song Dynasty (960-1279 A.D.).

Stone carving sites

Stone carvings are densely distributed on the cliffs, rocks and river beds. There are more than hundreds of inscriptions, including Li Dexiu in Tang Dynasty, Wang Anshi in Song Dynasty, and Wang Anshi in Song Dynasty

Huang Tingjian, Su Dongpo, Hu zuanzong of Ming Dynasty, Zhang Kai of Qing Dynasty and other famous officials all inscribed cliff valley. The contents of inscriptions cover astronomy, geography, politics, economy, military affairs and culture; the styles of inscriptions are various, including poems, songs, chronicles and titles; the styles of inscriptions include Zhen, Cao, Li, Xing and Zhuan.

Valley Liuquan cliff stone carvings form a natural art museum and historical archives, providing valuable information for the study of historical figures' activities, literature and calligraphy, natural and social sciences.

Development status

On January 13, 1988, it was announced as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council. Tianzhu Mountain, 25 kilometers north of Pingdu City, is located at the southern foot of daze mountain. The cliff inscriptions of Tianzhu Mountain, represented by Zheng Wengong's stele (also known as Zheng Xi's upper stele and lower stele in Yunfeng mountain of Laizhou), are located in the sun of the mountain. The stone tablet is 3 meters high and 1.5 meters wide. It is carved on a natural stone tablet. There are 20 lines of inscriptions, 45-50 words in each line, totaling 881 words. The inscription was written by Zheng daozhao, the governor of Guangzhou in the Northern Wei Dynasty. The content of the inscription is the praise of Zheng Xi, the governor of Yanzhou. This monument is the highest in the Wei Dynasty, and is unique in the history of Chinese calligraphy. At the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, Zhao Mingcheng (the husband of Li Qingzhao), a famous epigrapher, put it in the book jinshilu. Kang Youwei, a modern calligrapher, called it the great achievement of "collecting seal characters, dividing tastes and grass rhymes". He said that those who did not know the tablet could not discuss calligraphy with it. Lu Xun once "bought Zheng Wengong a tablet on the afternoon of the 21st day of the first month of Dingsi (1917) and could not put it down Four years later, 88 year old artist Liu Haisu came to the monument with his staff. He commented on it as "hearing it with rhyme, embracing it with sound, looking at it with emotion, and cleaning people's customs", and gladly inscribed the praise of "magnificent Boda cliff is full of brilliance". There are also "stone inscriptions" in the stone inscriptions of Tianzhu Mountain, which are also written by Zheng daozhao; "Tianzhu Mountain inscriptions" are written by Zheng Shuzu, the son of Zheng daozhao, and are also noted by calligraphers of all ages, which Kang Youwei called "miaopishang".
