Chengdu Butterfly Museum

Butterfly with its gorgeous color and elegant posture has been loved by people since ancient times. 16800 species of butterflies have been found in the world. With the development of economy, people gradually realize that butterflies are a kind of valuable resource animals. It not only has academic value in Entomology, ecology, environmental science and other disciplines, but also has great economic and artistic value in natural specimens and art collections, butterfly processing crafts and art design themes.

With the attention and support of leaders at all levels, Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base has established the butterfly museum, which is known as China's largest Butterfly Museum by overseas academic journals. With a construction area of more than 2000 square meters, the museum has seven exhibition halls and two butterfly ecological breeding parks.

More than 600 species of butterfly specimens, half of the known species in China, and hundreds of rare and ornamental insect specimens were exhibited. It includes Teinopalpus auteus, bhutanitis Atkinson and Luehdorfia, which are the most rare butterfly species in the world As well as the world's largest moth, the world's largest dung beetle, the world's longest insect and other ornamental insects.

In addition to the specimens, there are also a large number of materials, photos, models, butterfly painting and calligraphy, butterfly processing crafts. From the perspective of natural and Human Sciences, this paper shows the colorful world of butterflies and insects, as well as the achievements of people's understanding, research and utilization of butterflies at all times and all over the world, and publicizes and popularizes the scientific knowledge of butterflies.
