Fossil forest

Fossil forest scenic area consists of four parts: fossil forest, Shenzhen Museum of paleontology, Hong Kong return Memorial forest and peach blossom garden. The fossil forest has been under construction since 1997, covering an area of 20000 square meters. More than 500 silicified trees from Liaoning, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia have been collected and introduced. These silicified woods were identified by experts as pine and fir plants, and formed in the Mesozoic period of 150-70 million years. At that time, it was the most prosperous period in the evolutionary history of cones. The tall trees were buried under the stratum due to the intense crustal movement. After silicification, the fossils we see now were formed. So far, it is the only large ex situ fossil forest in the world. The fossil forest and paleontological museum here is a good place for people to understand the history of life on earth. The Museum of paleontology explains the history of life on earth in a systematic and easy to understand way by using fossils, pictures, multimedia technology and other materials. The shape and quantity of fossil forest wood fossils are impressive.
