Xiong Kewu's former residence, built in 1922, is located in "yanjingwan" (now Yanjing town), 11 kilometers away from Jingyan county. The former residence is located from northwest to Southeast, facing the street in front, leaning against the hillside in the back, adjacent to the town government on the left and the post and telecommunications office on the right.

In 1984, Xiong Kewu's former residence was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit at the county level by the county government; in 1986, it was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit at the municipal level by Leshan Municipal government. In 2012, it was announced by Sichuan provincial government as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit.

Structure of former residence

Courtyard layout, brick and wood structure, hard mountain roof. The hall is a wooden structure with four columns for three passes, with a width of 15.6 meters and a depth of 3.3 meters. The middle hall is a bucket beam frame with five columns for three passes. The width of the middle hall is 32 meters, the depth of the middle hall is 8 meters, and the height of the middle hall is 7 meters. It covers a total area of 1104 square meters and a building area of 773 square meters.

There is a display room in the former residence, which displays Mr. Xiong Kewu's pen, book, glasses, radio, fan, crutch, wardrobe, chair and other items one by one. There are exquisite pictures carved on the wooden pillars in the hall. There are two clumps of brown bamboo in the garden, which are very luxuriant. There is a small garden in which exotic flowers and plants are planted, and the fragrance of flowers is constant all year round.

Profile

Xiong Kewu (1885-1970) was born in yanjingwan, Jingyan County, Sichuan Province. Xiong Kewu organized Sichuan army in the period of Beiyang government. In 1918, Xiong Kewu was the commander-in-chief of Sichuan Yasukuni army. He was also the actual ruler of Sichuan Province from the late 1910s to 1920s. Xiong Kewu is an important member of the Chinese League, a loyal comrade of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, a great revolutionary pioneer, and a famous soldier of the democratic revolution.
