Jinkou Grand Canyon

Jinkouhe Grand Canyon, from Wusi River in the west to Jinkouhe River in the East, crosses Jinkouhe District of Leshan City, Hanyuan County of Ya'an City and Ganluo County of Liangshan Prefecture in Sichuan Province. It has a total length of 26 kilometers, with a valley width of less than 200 meters and a valley depth of 2600 meters. On both sides of the canyon, there are many peaks and dangerous rocks, which constitute various pictographic landscapes.

In January 2019, Jinkou Grand Canyon Scenic Spot was rated as a national 4A scenic spot.

brief introduction

Dadu River originates from Bayankala mountain, which borders Sichuan and Qinghai. After dajinchuan and xiaojinchuan in the upper reaches of Dadu River meet in Danba, they are called Dadu River.

It gallops down the steep mountains in the east of Hengduan Mountains. Along the way, there are almost all gorge sections with wonderful sceneries. However, only in Jinkou Grand Canyon can the gorge landscape of Dadu River reach the acme.

Jinkou Grand Canyon starts from Wusi River in Hanyuan County in the West and ends at Jinkou River in Leshan City in the East. It is 26 kilometers long. The valley bottom is generally 70-200 meters wide, and less than 50 meters in some parts. The maximum width of the valley shoulder is about 8 kilometers, and the valley depth is 2600 meters.

The lowest elevation of the valley at the exit of the canyon is about 580 meters, and the elevation of dawashan on the North Bank of the canyon is 3222 meters, which makes the maximum Valley depth of the canyon reach more than 2600 meters. The continuous and complete length and the degree of precipitous magnificence of the canyon are rare in the world.

Jinkou gorge is located in the area where the crust rises strongly on the eastern margin of the transection, and it is also the place where the height difference between the first and second-order terrain steps is great. In addition, the bedrock of the gorge is mainly hard dolomitic limestone with horizontal bedding, which makes Jinkou gorge the most typical ZhangGu and Aigu on large rivers in China. Its characteristics are vertical slope, narrow valley, and almost all the valley bottom are rivers The channel is occupied and the beach is not developed.

On the other hand, many tributaries on both sides are even more spectacular, such as deep and bottomless, narrow as a knife gap, steep cliffs and deep streams.

There are rare three-dimensional passageways for Jinkou Grand Canyon to enter: along the river, there are Jin Wu highway and Chengdu Kunming Railway in parallel, and on the mountain, there are Lexi highway built during the Anti Japanese War, circling in breathtaking conditions.

In January 2019, 21 scenic spots including Jinkou Grand Canyon Scenic Spot in Jinkouhe District of Leshan City were approved to be rated as national 4A scenic spots by the second meeting of Sichuan Provincial Tourism Resources Planning and development quality evaluation committee in 2019.

Main attractions

On both sides of the gorge, there are many peaks and dangerous rocks, which form various pictographic landscapes. They are like human beings and animals. On the lifelike and overlapping mountains, there are trees, waterfalls and various kinds of flowers and weeds, forming a gorgeous landscape with elegant natural charm.

There are many small gullies along the valley. The most famous one is a line of sky. The cliffs on both sides of the valley are close to each other. When you look up, you can only look at the sky and enter laochanggou, which is the center of the valley. This section of road is even more amazing. The cliffs, the gurgling streams, the singing of birds and animals, and the small path of sheep's intestines are the perfect manifestation of nature's "malice"

Baixiong Valley

Baixionggou, a branch of the North Bank of Dadu River, is a famous landscape of Jinkou Grand Canyon, located at the junction of Leshan and Ya'an. The total length is about 7 km. The gorge reaches to the south foot of Dawa mountain. Along the way, it is deep and quiet with wonderful scenery.

Between the cliffs with an elevation difference of nearly 1000 meters on both sides of the Strait, there are many natural stone carvings with different shapes, such as Buddha, God, beast, and so on.

In autumn and winter, they are covered in plain silver; in spring and summer, they are full of beautiful flowers, which form a natural and magical picture with Dawa mountain, Noah's Ark.

The name of "white bear Valley" comes from the paradise where giant pandas once lived.

Jinkou Grand Canyon of Dadu River, named as national geopark by the Ministry of land and resources of the people's Republic of China in 2001, is one of the "ten most beautiful canyons in China". It is located at the junction of Jinkouhe, Hanyuan and Ganluo districts and counties in the west of Sichuan Province, with a total length of 26 kilometers, a width of 14 kilometers from east to west, a depth of 2600 meters, and a width of less than 200 meters. It is comparable to the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River and the Grand Canyon of Colorado in the United States, and is known as the "earth Canyon" "The book of nature, the valley of the world".

Dawa mountain, one of the most important scenic spots in the Grand Canyon, is 3236 meters above sea level. It is the largest isolated peak like Pingdingshan in the world.

When you climb to the top of the mountain, you can see the sunrise, the sea of clouds and the light of Buddha. In the south, you can overlook the Grand Canyon. In the north, you can see the Golden Summit of Mount Emei and listen to the melodious bell. In the west, you can see the king of Shu mountain, the jade snow peak of Mount Gongga. At the foot of the mountain, five rippling natural lakes nestle together to guard Dawa mountain, which is just like Noah's Ark.

The scenic spot is famous as "the most charming natural park in the world" by American natural scientist Babel.

Traffic information

Railway: the Chengdu Kunming railway passes through Jinkouhe District, and you can take relevant trains of Chengdu Kunming railway.

Self driving: from Chengdu to Leshan via Chengle expressway, then from Emei to Ebian, you can go up the Dadu River to reach the Jinkou River. Continue to march up for several kilometers to reach the Jinkou Grand Canyon. The whole journey is about 4 hours.

Bus: Chengdu tourists can take bus at Chengbei passenger station and go directly to Jinkouhe.
