The luxury residential area in Kowloon Tong is a low-density residential area specially planned by the Hong Kong government. It is also an area inhabited by many wealthy British businessmen. The areas around Sham Shui Po and Shek ha Mei are public housing villages (i.e. national houses) where poor people gather. After the fire at Shek ha Mei in 1953, the Hong Kong government built "Shek ha Mei Village" to accommodate the victims.

In the "Longxiang road view platform", you can see not only the "poor" and "rich" feelings, but also the remote and close-up view of Victoria Harbour, the landmark "another city" of Kowloon Tong, the Kowloon Tong railway station and the City University beside the railway station. Before the relocation of Kai Tak Airport, the old international airport of Hong Kong, it was the best place to enjoy the take-off and landing of airplanes. Now we can still see the two runways extending to the sea.

Transportation guide

The traffic here is quite inconvenient, but if you take a taxi to Wong Tai Sin, it's very close. You don't need to jump the meter (HK $15).
