Purple stone peak is located in the south of Huangshan Mountain, adjacent to qingluan peak, facing Taohua peak across the stream. It is one of the 36 peaks with an altitude of 1122 meters. Because the whole peak is purple granite, shining in the sun, so it is called "purple stone peak".

At the foot of the peak, there is a source of soup spring, which was described by the ancients as "hiding the sun under the purple stone peak, making soup without stoves.". The peak is famous for Tangquan. In Song Dynasty, there was a poem praising Wu Mingshi: "there are purple stones hanging on the peak, and the cliffs are boiling on the ground. If you don't enter the clouds, you will know the wonders of the world. " Huang Yuanzhi, a native of Yixian County in the Qing Dynasty and a former magistrate of Weijiang County in Yunnan Province, wrote a poem about his scenery: "the sky hangs down on his right arm, and his body is like a snake's belly. Danan suddenly raises its head and purple stone peak stands. Cinnabar in its face, soup wash its feet. A thousand feet high, bone not meat. There are hundreds of layers of stitches, layers of strange pine green. The purple cliff is steep and straight, and the shade is horizontal. The color is like brocade, and the glow is more than dazzling. "
