Guo Moruo's former residence is No. 18, Qianhai Xiyan, Xicheng District, Beijing. It used to be a garden in Hetao in the Qing Dynasty, and later became the pasture and stable of Prince Gong Yi's house. During the period of the Republic of China, the descendants of Prince Gong sold the palace and garden to Fu Ren University, and sold it to Da Ren Tang Yuejia pharmacy as a residence garden.

In October 1963, Guo Moruo lived here until his death on June 12, 1978. Mr. Guo spent the last 15 years of his life here.

Introduction to former residence

Guo Moruo (1892-1978), a native of Leshan, Sichuan. Writers, poets, playwrights, archaeologists, paleographers and social activists.

The former residence is a large-scale quadrangle. There is a mound decorated with trees in the gate. The five North rooms in the second gate are its studio and reception hall, the East ear room is its bedroom, and the East and West Wing rooms are three. Surrounded by corridors, there is a closed corridor leading to the backyard.

In addition, there is an East Cross courtyard, where a large number of Guo Moruo's manuscripts, books and other precious cultural relics are preserved. There are Ginkgo biloba and peony planted by Guo Moruo and his wife, among which "mother tree" is the most characteristic. Stepping into the courtyard, there is a bronze statue of Mr. Guo Moruo on the lawn. He looks happy, like taking a nap or meditating. Through the Chuihua gate, there is a two-way courtyard composed of East and West Wing rooms and two rows of main rooms. The corridor and warm corridor connect it as a whole. Facing the five main rooms are Mr. Guo's bedroom, writing room and living room, all of which are displayed in the original state.

According to this main line, through Guo Lao's manuscripts, works, historical pictures and other exhibits, the exhibition introduces his achievements in poetry, drama, literary theory, ancient Chinese characters and ancient social studies, calligraphy and other fields in different historical periods, and introduces his historical achievements in various stages of the new democratic revolution, as well as his achievements in science and technology after the founding of new China He also made immortal contributions to the academic, cultural and educational front, international exchanges and peace movement. In order to enable the audience to have a deeper understanding of Guo, the special exhibition room also introduces Guo's achievements in various academic fields or different historical periods.
