Chen Wang Temple

ChenWang temple, according to the records of Shanghai county, was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1522-1566). It was rebuilt in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty (1573-1620). In 1802, song Yuzhang and song Yuting donated money for reconstruction. In 1806, Cao dingyang, Wang Xinyi and other directors donated money to rebuild it. In 1807, Cao dingyang donated one hundred liang of silver to rebuild the theater. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, ChenWang Temple opened a primary school called duchuan primary school. According to the records of Zhangqiao township of Chuansha County, duchuan primary school was renamed Anguo branch school in 1946. In the early days of liberation, Anguo branch school was renamed wangjiacun primary school. Later, it was designated as the junior high school with cap. During the cultural revolution, all the statues in the temple were destroyed and religious activities stopped. After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, the religious policy was re implemented, and the ChenWang Temple resumed its preparatory work in 1985 and opened one after another.

ChenWang temple is a Taoist temple of Zhengyi school. It is mainly for Chen Ping, the Prime Minister of Han Dynasty, so it is called ChenWang temple. Chen Wang Temple also worships the Jade Emperor, Dongyue emperor, Sanguan emperor, Cihang Taoist (Guanyin), Guansheng emperor, Chenghuang God, and Chunyang patriarch. The economic source of ChenWang Temple mainly depends on the income from confession and the donation of believers.

There are two ancient stone tablets in the ChenWang temple, namely, the stele of zhaitian in ChenWang temple and the stele of rebuilding ChenWang temple. Every new moon day, especially the 28th of March, the 21st of May, and the fourth day of June in the lunar calendar, there is an endless stream of believers, with the curling of cigarettes, the sound of music, the sound of bells and drums, praying for longevity.

First term: Huang Jizhong (1989-2006), Taoist Huang Jizhong, born in 1925 in Shanghai. In 1989, Chen Wang Temple was the director of the Management Committee of the Taoist temple.

Second term: Wang Jin. （2006- ）

Taoist Wang Jin, born in 1968 in Hai'an, Jiangsu Province. In April 2006, he served as director of ChenWang Temple Management Committee.
