About the park

Shanghai Huashan children's Park is located at 1575 Huashan Road. It is surrounded by residential buildings except Huashan Road in front of the park gate. The site of the park was originally a deserted commons, which had become an informal garbage dump in the early days of liberation. In 1950, the park management office of the Municipal Public Affairs Bureau turned it into a park. The project started on June 12 of that year and opened to the public on May 1, 1952.

When the park was first built, there was only one thatched pavilion in the garden building, with a construction area of no more than 60 square meters, including the management room and toilet. In 1972, the local chenjiaxiang residents committee set up a small library for primary and secondary school students by using the management room in the park. In 1973, the Department of landscape architecture allocated 7000 yuan to buy some children's amusement facilities, which improved the appearance. In 1982, another 16900 yuan was allocated to build a new hexagonal pavilion with 29.4 square meters of management space, 280 square meters of colored tile floor and cement pavement. At the beginning of the second quarter of 1983, the reconstruction project was completed. Zhou Gucheng, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, inscribed the garden board. In the same year, the international children's Day was reopened. Children 1-1.2 meters tall and adults accompanying children under 1 meter tall can enter the garden free of charge.

Park Area

The green area of the park is 1900 square meters, accounting for 70.37% of the total area. The plants planted in the park form a fresh environment, which is loved by small tourists. There are three cedar trees 10 meters high in the East Center of the garden, and seven Cinnamomum camphora trees more than 15 meters high in the northeast of the garden, some with a diameter at breast height of 150 cm. 22 Platanus trees around the garden are about 20 meters high and 1.5-1.6 meters in diameter at breast height. Children's playground is located in the north and south. In the south, the venue covers an area of about 140 square meters, with metal barrier boating, panda slide, seesaw, etc. The North site covers an area of about 90 square meters, with elephant slides and monkey climbing frames.

Park renovation

In 1999, the Changning Garden Management Office of the park invested more than 800000 yuan to reconstruct Huashan children's Park again. A new management room of 100 square meters was built. The original hexagonal pavilion and color floor were decorated. Around the tree altar in the center of the park, a cobblestone fitness trail of about 90 meters was set up, with the same length of stainless steel railings. All the children's facilities were renovated It has been updated. In terms of greening, on the basis of retaining the original big trees and growing flowering shrubs, a variety of flowering shrubs are added to make the park take on a new look and coordinate with the surrounding environment and the newly reconstructed Huashan Road.
