Shanghai Children's Library

Shanghai Children's library is a provincial children's Library in China. The collection of the library is mainly children's books. The library has a collection department, a lending department, a reading department, a counseling department, a research room and a children's activity center.

 

In December 2018, it was announced as the advanced unit of nationwide reading in 2017 by China Library Association.

 

On May 14, 2018, the results of the sixth national evaluation and grading of public libraries at or above the county level were announced, and Shanghai Children's library was rated as a first-class library.

 

Historical evolution

In 1940, the Shanghai Children's library was sponsored by Ying Yongyu and other organizations, such as the Shanghai Office of the Chinese children's Association.

In October 1952, it was taken over by Shanghai Municipal People's government and renamed Shanghai Municipal Children's library.

In 1958, it moved to its present address (No. 962, Nanjing West Road) and renamed Shanghai Children's library.

It was changed to its current name in June 1980 and its independent organizational system was restored in January 1987.

 

Collection resources

Nanjing West Road Children's Museum covers an area of 4245 square meters with 464 reading seats. It has a collection of 820000 copies, including nearly 100000 special collections, including children's literature in the period of the Republic of China, early Chinese children's books and periodicals, comic books, etc.

Notes for handling and borrowing

1. Shanghai Central Library Children's "one card" reader card is also known as "one card" children's card. The "all in one card" children's card can be borrowed and returned in the children's library or children's reading room of the city's Public Library (the scope is subject to the information published on the website of Shanghai Library).

2. Each reader aged 0-16 can apply for a "all-in-one card" children's card with a deposit of 100 yuan. When applying for the card, they need to provide the children's original valid identity card (ID card or household register or foreign passport).

3. The e-student card of primary and junior high school students can directly borrow books, and its borrowing function is equivalent to the "all in one card" children's card.

4. The management mode of "where to apply for the certificate, where to return the certificate" is implemented. When the "all-in-one card" children's card is lost, you need to bring the original of the children's valid identity card provided when you apply for the card and go to the initial application hall to report the loss and make up for it. The cost of making up the card is 10 yuan.

5. The "all in one card" children's card can borrow up to 10 books, including 5 original English books (only in Shanghai Children's Library).

6. The loan period of each book is 28 days, which can be renewed through the "self-service loan machine" or the official website of Shanghai Children's library. The renewal period is 28 days, and the overdue fee is 0.20 yuan / book / day.

7. If a book is lost, it should be compensated by the original price of the book in the library.

8. Lending opening hours: every Monday to Friday: 13:00-17:00; only group readers are received in the morning;

Saturday, Sunday, winter and summer: 9:00-17:00;

National holidays: 9:00-16:00.
