Shaanxi Sports Museum

Shaanxi Sports Museum is a free public welfare Museum of sports. It was approved by Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission in 2007 and started construction in May 2008. The museum has a total exhibition area of 1987 square meters and 792 collections.

The basic Exhibition Hall shows the development process of Shaanxi ancient sports, modern sports, red sports and contemporary sports; the sports boutique exhibition hall includes Shaanxi sports stars, medals, trophies and certificates obtained by Shaanxi athletes in major events at home and abroad; the sports interactive experience area mainly includes ancient sports, modern sports and sports popular science experience projects. Among the collection of the museum, there is a precious national first-class cultural relic of the Sui Dynasty celadon sumo Figurine, which can be called the treasure of the Provincial Sports Museum.

Building and opening

On December 24, 2011, Shaanxi Sports Museum, the first provincial general history Sports Museum in China, held a grand opening ceremony. This is not only a grand event in the field of Shaanxi Museum, but also an organic combination of China's long history and culture and splendid sports culture in Xi'an, the ancient capital of the thirteen dynasties, and a systematic display in front of the public.

Shaanxi Sports Museum is located in the northwest corner of the intersection of Zhangba East Road and Tangyan road in Xi'an high tech Zone. It is located in the park of Shaanxi sports training center and adjacent to Shaanxi swimming and diving Museum. In 2007, the museum began to build. In May 2010, the compilation, revision, collection, design and construction of the exhibition plan were launched. After the completion acceptance on November 1, 2011, the trial operation lasted for more than a month, and the opinions of individuals, groups and provincial and municipal leaders were widely listened to. On December 24, 2011, under the care and attention of all sectors of society, Shaanxi Sports Museum officially opened. At the opening ceremony, Shaanxi Sports Museum was awarded the title of "Shaanxi patriotism education base".

Shaanxi sports has a long history. History has left a wealth of historical and cultural relics in Shaanxi, of which sports cultural relics occupy a considerable proportion. Turning to the historical picture of Shaanxi sports culture, we can clearly see that there were three climaxes in the development of ancient Chinese sports, namely, the Zhou Dynasty, the Han Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty. The capitals of the three dynasties were located in Shaanxi. Therefore, it can be said that the centers of the three climaxes of ancient Chinese sports development were in Shaanxi and Xi'an. Among the handed down and unearthed cultural relics in Shaanxi, a considerable number of sports cultural relics also confirmed the important position of the ancient land of Sanqin in the history of ancient Chinese sports development. This is the first bright spot in the development of sports culture in Shaanxi; in the history of modern sports development in Shaanxi, the red sports in Yan'an period laid a good foundation for the development of sports in New China. This is the second bright spot in the development of sports culture in Shaanxi Province. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Shaanxi mass sports were widely carried out and competitive sports developed rapidly. In particular, the three Olympic champions Tian Liang and Qin Kai, diving athletes and Guo Wenjun, shooting athletes, made Shaanxi competitive sports a new force. This is the third bright spot in the development of Shaanxi sports culture. Based on the above historical background of sports development in Shaanxi Province, coupled with the rapid development of national economy and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, it is inevitable to prepare for the construction of Shaanxi Sports Museum.

Layout design

Shaanxi Sports Museum is located from east to west, with a total area of more than 3000 square meters, a total of three floors, and a total display area of 1987 square meters. Among them, the first floor is the basic exhibition hall, which mainly displays the ancient, modern and contemporary sports cultural relics of Shaanxi, with an exhibition area of 826 square meters; the second floor is the sports boutique exhibition hall, which mainly displays the silica gel statues of Shaanxi sports stars, the medals, trophies, certificates and banners of Shaanxi athletes who won the three world competitions, Asian competitions and domestic competitions, as well as the academic lecture hall and audio-visual exhibition hall The exhibition hall, as well as Shaanxi "12th Five Year" sports planning, national fitness knowledge corridor and International Olympic Games knowledge corridor, covers an area of 325 square meters; the third floor is a multi-functional sports interactive experience area, mainly for ancient sports, modern sports and sports popular science experience, covering an area of 836 square meters.
