The ancient rhinoceros cave is a Paleolithic site of ancient human beings in the alpine region. It is located in the 15 km long Hongping gallery. The reason why this cave is famous is that in November 1996, Professor Wang shancai, a famous archaeologist from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the cultural relics administration, was the leader of the ancient rhinoceros cave team in Shennongjia. Among the animal fossils and skeletal remains unearthed, rhinoceros, giant panda, bison, spotted deer, water deer, Saber Toothed elephant, macaque, leopard, wolf, roe deer, muntjac, porcupine, bamboo rat, sheep and bear are preliminarily identified There are more than 8 rhinoceros bones and more than 6 saber tooth elephant bones found in the cave. Among them, there are old, young, large and small ones, which are very rich. The unearthed Paleolithic tools include more than 20 choppers, scrapers, stone hammers and carving tools. The discovery of this cave is of great significance to the study of paleohuman activities in Northwest Hubei.

Located on the west side of Hongping Gallery, shennongding scenic spot is located in the nature reserve in the south of Shennongjia. The main roads in the forest area are 209 National Road, Baiguoshu and honghuahua provincial road, jiuhuping and Jiuhu district road. The total length of the highway in the territory is more than 1300 kilometers, running through the whole region from north to south, east to west, and connecting with Xiangfan, Shiyan, Yichang, Xingshan, Badong and other cities and counties to form a network. From Wuhan to Shennongjia, you can take a long-distance bus at Xinhua road long-distance bus station. There is a sleeper bus from Wuhan to Xingshan County at 8:00 p.m. every day, and it arrives at Xingshan County at 6:00 a.m. the next day. The ticket price is 90 yuan / person. There is a minibus in Xingshan to reach Muyu town of Shennongjia (60 km). There is a bus every half an hour, and the ticket price is 10 yuan per person. You can also take the train from Wuhan to Shiyan first (the train at 10:00 p.m. and Shiyan at more than 6:00 a.m.), then take the bus at 7:30 to Shennongjia at noon.

Transportation: Shennongjia scenic area has convenient transportation, and all buses before 7:30 in the morning pass through the scenic area. If you miss the bus, you can also rent a minibus. The price is about 200 yuan / day.
